Merino vs merino - let's talk quality

Merino vs merino - let's talk quality

It seems like everywhere you look when it comes to baby clothes, that everyone has merino. But here’s something you might not realise, not all merino is created equally.

When we say superfine, we don’t mean super thin. Our merino is warm, hard wearing and designed to be worn over and over again, loved by families from child to child (we cover merino care here).

But let’s break it down for you, merino softness is determined by its micron count. The lower the micron number, the softer the merino. You know that scratchy prickly feeling when you pick up a woolen garment? High micron count.

We love to boast about our softness, with the ellyjax micron count at 17.8 so when we say superfine, we mean it.

Lots of other brands leave out this information and you’ll often find their merino blended with other fabrics like cotton, nylon or non-merino wool. Cheaper merino garments out there range from 19-22 microns, so the softness? It’s not the same.

One thing we know for certain is that when you feel it for yourself, you’ll understand the quality we’re working with to ensure your baby is as cosy as possible.

Want to feel the difference for yourself? Come find us at the Tamahere Market just outside Hamilton, or order online. Feel the difference without taking the risk, we offer a 100% money back guarantee, some T&C’s apply.
